In the center of the tread, there is a very wide longitudinal rib, divided by a drainage groove into two independent parts. Each of them, due to the continuous construction, has increased stiffness. Another feature of the tread of this tire is the presence of a significant number of very long edges of adhesion. Most of them are formed by tread blocks that start in the central part and end only in the shoulder areas. Such a design improves several important characteristics at once. In addition to increased efficiency during acceleration and braking, it increases the size of the contact patch and also increases stability during maneuvering.
Excellent grip on wet roads
Between the numerous blocks, there are drainage grooves. A significant part of them is located at a fairly sharp angle against the direction of movement. In combination with the curved shape, this many times increases the throughput of the drainage grooves, which, in turn, increases the resistance to aquaplaning.
Another important factor that provides increased grip on wet roads is the composition of the rubber mixture of First Stop Speed. A significant part of it is represented by silica, which gives the tread increased elasticity on cold, wet asphalt, and also - excellent resistance to abrasive wear.
