The Falken Eurowinter HS449 winter passenger non-studded tire is one of the latest innovations from a well-known German manufacturer. This model is available in over 80 sizes with fitment sizes ranging from 13 to 19 inches, making it easy to find a suitable option for almost any modern passenger car.
Like most high-quality winter tires, this model features a V-shaped symmetric directional tread pattern. Despite this, the design of the tread pattern contains a number of original technical solutions. First and foremost, the construction of the central longitudinal rib, consisting of individually standing triangular blocks, should be noted.
This construction of the central part has made it possible to achieve excellent traction and coupling characteristics on snowy and icy surfaces, as well as excellent directional stability. The shoulder areas of the tread, thanks to the transverse drainage channels, feature two additional rows of blocks. Another key feature of the new tire is the presence of a huge number of S-shaped lamellas arranged in different directions. These tread elements have made it possible to achieve a number of advantages. First and foremost, with the help of these lamellas, it was possible to additionally obtain a large number of sharp edges for engagement, which significantly increased the stability and reliability of behavior on snow and ice. Another advantage of using these lamellas was a significant increase in the stiffness of the tread blocks, which made it possible to equip the tread with an increased number of lamellas, and also led to a significant improvement in handling characteristics on asphalt.
