The Dunlop SP Sport MAXX RT summer tire is one of the latest developments from the renowned manufacturer. This model was specially designed for powerful passenger cars, featuring an optimal balance between sporty handling and practicality in everyday use.
"Racing" compound
One of the key features of this model is the composition of the rubber mixture, which includes the same components previously used only in the production of racing tires. These special polymers allow the tread to instantly adapt to the road surface, ensuring consistently high traction in any conditions.
Asymmetric tread pattern
To provide excellent traction on any road surface, the specialists at Dunlop decided to use a brand-new asymmetric tread pattern. One of its features is that it consists of two parts - inner and outer, each solving a specific set of tasks. In particular, the outer side of the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT tire works during cornering. Therefore, this part of the tread features massive and very rigid elements, the special shape of which provides excellent traction even at high lateral acceleration.
Additionally, the central part of the tread features a solid longitudinal rib, which is also very wide. This technical solution is one of the signs that this model belongs to the high-performance tires. Thanks to it, the tire demonstrates excellent directional stability even at very high speeds. Moreover, the high rigidity of the central rib ensures instant reactions to steering wheel turns, bringing a sporty character to the handling.
Another distinction of the novelty is the attention to detail. To optimize the aerodynamic characteristics, the inscriptions on the sidewalls of the tire are made concave inward. At the same time, the sidewalls themselves have a practically flat profile, which has a positive effect on aerodynamics.

To achieve this, the company's engineers applied a range of measures aimed primarily at reducing rolling resistance. First of all, the tire's carcass was maximally lightened, which made it possible to reduce the weight of the entire tire. As independent tests have shown, the braking distance of the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT tire, both on dry and wet surfaces, is significantly shorter than that of most competitors. Such results were achieved thanks to the intelligent design of the shoulder areas, which bear the greatest load during braking. These tread elements are characterized by massive forms and the presence of many sharp edges formed by numerous blocks. At the same time, the blocks are arranged with a varying pitch relative to each other, which significantly reduced the likelihood of resonance noise and vibrations.
Another component of the exceptionally high operational characteristics of this model is the design of the drainage system, which provided it with extraordinary efficiency. At the same time, it is extremely simple. One of the main elements of the drainage system is four longitudinal grooves located along the entire tread. Their main task is to collect excess water from the contact patch. After that, they are discharged outward through numerous transverse channels located in the shoulder areas of the tread.
