The summer tire Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 050+ SUV was introduced simultaneously with the model designed for passenger cars. Despite their external identity, both tires differ significantly in the design of the carcass. In this model, it was significantly strengthened, which is due to the increased weight of crossovers compared to conventional passenger cars.
"Smart" compound
A significant part of the technologies used in the creation of this tire were previously tested not only in auto- but also in motorsports. One of them is 4D Nano Design. This name denotes a so-called "smart" rubber compound, the properties of which change depending on road conditions. This feature is most pronounced when driving on wet roads. The increased silica content and the presence of special elastomers in the compound allow the tread to fit tightly to the road surface, regardless of its temperature. This significantly increases the contact patch, which has a positive effect on the traction properties.
Improved asymmetric tread
Like other flagship models, this tire is equipped with a tread with an asymmetric design. It is divided into several zones, each with its own functionality, which largely determines the high performance of the tire in any conditions. In particular, the shoulder zone on the outside of the tread has increased stiffness, and the tread elements located here have massive sizes. This allows the tire to maintain stability when passing turns even at very high speeds.
In this regard, it is impossible not to note the presence of a narrow longitudinal groove. This tread element on a wet road creates a so-called "edge effect", which additionally increases the stability of the tire during maneuvering and turns.
