The all-season tire Dunlop SP 31 is designed for compact passenger cars. The model is developed for countries of Central and Western Europe and is characterized by improved traction properties on wet and snowy roads.
Asymmetric Tread
The balance of the tire's technical characteristics is largely due to the use of a tread with an asymmetric arrangement of elements. The shoulder blocks located on the outside and the double longitudinal rib, interacting with each other, provide quickness and accuracy of the tire's reactions to the driver's actions. In particular, the longitudinal rib and shoulder blocks improve directional stability and cornering grip, respectively. In turn, the tread elements on the inside improve traction and braking properties.
Several Types of Lames
The tire's tread contains grooves of several types. H-shaped cuts increase the contact patch, prevent uneven wear, and provide additional softness on the go. Z-shaped lames prevent aquaplaning, improve directional stability when driving in a straight line. In turn, straight grooves increase the efficiency of the tread when braking on slippery surfaces.
Acoustic Comfort
When developing the tire, the Multi-Pitch Tread Design technology was applied. Its essence lies in the optimized arrangement of tread elements, which minimizes the risk of resonance noise. This has a positive effect on acoustic comfort.
Main Features of the Dunlop SP 31 Tire
- asymmetric tread provides balanced characteristics;
- several types of lames improve the tire's efficiency on slippery surfaces, prevent uneven wear, reduce noise, and provide a soft ride;
- high level of acoustic comfort thanks to the Multi-Pitch Tread Design technology.
