Dongfeng DSS02 – a summer model, where the focus is on the versatility of operating modes for heavy SUVs and commercial pickups. The tyre is interesting due to its intelligent distribution of stiffness elements and optimization of the rubber compound for abrasive wear, which takes it beyond the limits of narrowly specialized off-road tyres.

Specifics of the tread pattern

The open design of the tread is adapted with a view to reducing vibration loads. The central longitudinal belt, having an almost monolithic structure, solves two problems at once. Firstly, it reduces the rolling resistance coefficient when driving on asphalt, which is critical for fuel efficiency. Secondly, it improves the accuracy of maneuvering at speeds over 100 km/h.

Fighting side skidding

The concave profile of the shoulder blocks is of particular interest. This shape not only increases the contact area under vertical load but also provides a significant increase in stability against side skidding on loose surfaces, allowing the driver to feel in control of the trajectory.

Frame structure and compound

The production emphasis in the model is on a powerful "hybrid": combined reinforcement with steel and synthetic cord. The steel breaker takes on impact loads and resistance to punctures, while the polyester threads in the sidewall provide the necessary elasticity. The rubber compound is enriched with polymers of high molecular weight, which guarantees resistance to micro-cuts and thermal aging.
