One of the latest developments of the Korean industrial giant in the field of transport is the new winter tire Daewoo Matterhorn, designed for use on passenger cars. The name for the new winter tire was chosen not by chance, since Matterhorn is the name of one of the Alpine mountain peaks, located on the border of Switzerland and Italy. This implies the readiness of Daewoo Matterhorn to operate on difficult Alpine roads.
The tire tread contains a large number of lamellas and special channels that contribute to more effective water and snow slush removal from the contact patch. In addition, the shoulder blocks of the tread are permeated with capillary grooves that quickly absorb the water film from the contact patch of the tire with the surface. The tread of the Korean winter tire is also equipped with wear limit indicators that signal the safe limit of tire operation in winter conditions. After which, the tire can be used as a summer tire with a small resource of use.
Features of the Daewoo Matterhorn tire
The winter tire Daewoo Matterhorn is designed for speeds of up to 190 km/h (speed index - T). The rubber compound is oriented for tire operation at temperatures from plus 5 to minus 10 degrees. In other words, for a warm European winter. These characteristics make the tire a good choice for operation in urban conditions, i.e. for movement on a road covered with water, snow or snow slush. The rugged Russian conditions are helped by a flexible breaker located under the tread, as well as a sturdy sidewall.
The cost of the tire refers it to the economy class, where it can become a choice for car enthusiasts who previously preferred to buy domestic products.
