Cordiant Snow Cross 2 175/55 R14 86T
Specifications
DescriptionDescription Cordiant Snow Cross 2 175/55 R14 86T
The Cordiant Snow Cross 2 winter tire, like the first generation model, is designed for passenger cars. It features a completely new tread pattern, which has provided a significant improvement in resistance to splashing, traction on snowy and icy surfaces.
Optimized rubber compound
Some of the technical solutions were borrowed from the previous model tire. One of them is the rubber compound that appeared in 2015, which is distinguished by an extended range of operating temperatures. Thanks to this compound, the tire's traction properties remain virtually unchanged, both at +5 and -53 degrees Celsius. Such properties are ensured by a composition with a high silica content, which is imported from Asia. Rapeseed oil, which is also used in the tire compound, is also supplied from there.
Improved tread pattern
The tread pattern used in the model largely repeats the design of similar Finnish tires. But at the same time, this is not a direct copy, since there are many significant differences. All of them, to a greater or lesser extent, reflect the Russian specifics of winter road conditions. One of them is the increased width of the shoulder blocks. This allows them to perform the role of mud grips, facilitating exit from the rut and entry onto snow-covered curbs.
Updated studding scheme
Currently, the tire is equipped with a Spike-Cor stud. The manufacturer positions this solution as an intermediate one, planning to use new elements later, the development of which has not yet been completed. But at the same time, the scheme of their location has been completely updated. Simultaneously, up to ten studs are located in the contact patch, forming the corresponding number of longitudinal "anti-skid chains". The result of this solution is a significant improvement in traction properties on icy surfaces - up to the level demonstrated by analogs from leading European brands.
Key features of Cordiant Snow Cross 2
- new tread pattern with wide shoulder blocks;
- rubber compound with a very wide range of operating temperatures;
- updated stud placement scheme.

- Who is it suitable for
- Buyers note the tyre's ability to confidently overcome snow drifts and ruts thanks to the wide shoulder blocks. The studs of the new scheme provide stable acceleration and braking on icy sections. For the budget segment, a high resource is characteristic: with calm driving, the studding is preserved for several seasons. The robust sidewalls withstand contacts with irregularities of winter roads. The ratio of price and winter characteristics makes the purchase rational for operation in regions with abundant snowfall. Owners value predictability of behaviour on snow more than quietness in the cabin. It is recommended for urban operation and roads with uncleared surfaces.
- Who should consider an alternative
- It's better to choose a different class if you often travel on highways at speeds above 110 km/h. On clean asphalt, a noticeable tyre noise becomes apparent, which can be exhausting on long trips. The model is less suitable for those who are used to an aggressive driving style with sharp lane changes in snowy slush. In regions with predominantly wet asphalt and de-icing agents, the traction properties may be inferior to specialized counterparts. For cars where maximum silence in the cabin is important, the noise level can become a critical factor. If acoustic comfort is a priority, it's more reasonable to consider other options.
- Main reason for choice
- The main argument in favour of buying — the ability to confidently feel yourself where other budget tyres give up. You get proven snow and ice traction without overpaying for the brand. The compromise lies in acoustic comfort: noise is the flip side of the aggressive tread pattern. However, for the winter period, this is often a justified price for safety and the confidence of driving out of a snowbank. It is recommended to carefully check the wheel balancing when installing to avoid vibrations. In summary, this is a rational decision for a harsh winter, not a comfortable cruiser for southern routes.
