The Continental VancoViking winter tire is designed for use on vans and small trucks. One of the key features of this tire is the possibility of installing studs, which significantly expands its application possibilities in winter.
The design of the non-directional tread pattern is created with consideration for operation both in the city and on snowy rural roads. This is evidenced by the presence in the tread pattern of a large number of individual blocks, the shape of which is rich in many angles. All blocks are grouped into five longitudinal rows, two of which are located in the shoulder areas of the tread. All blocks are spaced apart at a distance sufficient to provide excellent self-cleaning of the tread, which is perfectly demonstrated when driving on snow, sand, and mud.
In addition, the special design of the shoulder areas, consisting of individual blocks, provides additional passability. A feature of this part of the tread is the great height of these blocks, which in complex road conditions work like powerful off-road grips. When driving on snow and ice, the Continental VancoViking tire demonstrates excellent traction, due to the many sharp edges of the large number of blocks, as well as the fact that S-shaped lamellas are located on each tread element. These lamellas, without compromising the rigidity of the block, form additional edges of engagement, which significantly improves the traction and coupling characteristics when driving on slippery roads.
Main features of the Continental VancoViking tire
- excellent traction on slippery winter roads is provided by the original design of the non-directional tread pattern;
- the possibility of installing studs allows improving safety when driving on icy surfaces;
- a large number of blocks and a special design of the shoulder areas provide excellent passability;
- special additives in the rubber compound gave the tire elasticity even at negative temperatures.
