Description Continental VancoIceContact
The winter studded passenger tire Continental VancoIceContact is one of the novelties of the German tire giant, designed specifically for commercial vehicles with a small carrying capacity. This model is released in 10 most popular sizes with installation sizes of 15 and 16 inches.
In the creation of this tire, technical solutions that have proven their effectiveness on models designed for passenger cars were widely used. In particular, the famous Brilliant spike was used, which is made of specially hard steel grades and has a unique multi-faceted shape. Thanks to the longer spike engagement edges, it was possible to significantly improve traction and handling on icy surfaces.
Another innovation was the Salmon Stairs technology, which provides a special structure of transverse drainage grooves located in the shoulder areas of the tread. The key difference of these grooves is their bottom, which is made with steps. This allows the Continental VancoIceContact tire to adapt to the depth of snow cover, thereby ensuring optimal traction.
It is also worth noting the presence of a huge number of S-shaped lamellas in the shoulder areas and central part of the tread. At the same time, the lamellas are arranged bidirectionally, which made it possible to achieve exceptionally high braking efficiency, especially on snow.
Another distinctive feature of this model is the angle of the tread blocks of the central part and shoulder areas of the tread. The tread blocks of the central part are arranged at an angle relative to the direction of movement, which ensures excellent acceleration efficiency on snow. At the same time, the blocks of the shoulder areas of the tread are arranged almost perpendicularly, which allows for additional improvement of braking efficiency.
Main features of the Continental VancoIceContact model
- Brilliant spikes made of specially strong steel grades and having a multifaceted shape provide excellent traction on ice throughout the life of the tire;
- The original structure with steps at the bottom of the transverse grooves of the shoulder areas allows the tire to adapt to changes in snow depth, thereby ensuring excellent traction in any conditions;
- The bidirectional arrangement of S-shaped lamellas allows the tire to demonstrate high braking efficiency on snow.
