Description Continental SuperContact
Despite its loud name, the Continental SuperContact summer tire is designed for inexpensive compact passenger cars. Another feature of this model is that it was developed with the characteristics of urban operation in mind. For this reason, its strongest sides are enhanced grip in difficult conditions, fuel efficiency, and a long service life.
Multifunctional Design
A significant part of the advantages of this model is due to the features of the central tread design. It consists of three massive ribs, the middle one having a solid structure, and the other two containing many lamellas. Such a design has multifunctionality, which allows it to improve several operational properties at once. In particular, the middle rib, due to its continuous structure, increases stability and responsiveness at high speeds. In turn, the numerous lamellas in the other two ribs of the central tread on the one hand improve longitudinal traction properties, and on the other hand, additionally increase resistance to aquaplaning and the level of acoustic comfort.
Open Design of Shoulder Zones
In turn, the "feature" of the shoulder zone design of the tread is also the numerous lamellas cut into wide transverse blocks. For the sake of improving acoustic comfort, their number is different - one or two lamellas per block. The transverse edges of adhesion formed by them significantly reduce the length of the braking distance, especially on a wet road.
Main Features of Continental SuperContact Tire
- a multifunctional design of the central part of the tread with three wide longitudinal ribs gives the tire stable behavior at high speeds, fast and accurate reactions to steering wheel turns, good longitudinal traction properties;
- wide shoulder blocks with an alternating number of lamellas increase the effectiveness of braking, reduce the noise level.
