The Continental ContiWinterContact TS 860 S ContiSilent winter tire is a special version of the popular model from the German manufacturer, differing from the "original" with improved acoustic comfort. At the same time, the driving properties of both versions are identical, among which it is especially worth highlighting the reliability of traction and comfort of handling on snowy and wet surfaces.

The key difference of this model is the use of ContiSilent technology. The essence of the innovation lies in the use of a layer of polyurethane foam on the inner side of the tire. The lightweight material with a porous structure absorbs most of the noise and vibrations, not allowing them to be transmitted to the car's cabin.

The tire uses a tread with an asymmetric pattern. Among its elements, it is especially worth highlighting the so-called "traction" lamellas. The shoulder zones contain saw-toothed cuts with elongated edges. They increase traction and braking properties on snowy surfaces. They are significantly enhanced due to the small width of the grooves between the shoulder blocks. This allows the elements to rely on each other during longitudinal acceleration, increasing the stability of traction in such driving modes. On dry pavement, the presence of massive blocks on the edges of the tread increases the accuracy of handling and directional stability during maneuvering.

Despite the large number of elements in the tread pattern, the tire stands out for its excellent fuel efficiency. For this, a whole complex of technical solutions was applied. One of them is the design of the carcass. Its optimization and the use of modern synthetic materials reduced the weight, ensuring high rigidity. The profile of the tread has a shape that also contributes to reducing rolling resistance. Another component that made a significant contribution to reducing fuel consumption is the rubber compound, namely its ability to intensively dissipate heat. This also reduces rolling resistance.
