The winter tire Continental ContiVikingContact 7 ContiSeal is installed on passenger cars of various classes. It is a modernized version of the same-name model, distinguished by the ability to self-seal mechanical damage to the tread part of the protector with a diameter of up to 5 mm. On the go, it does not differ from the "original", characterized by reliable traction on winter roads, stable handling, and effectiveness when braking on slippery surfaces.
ContiSeal
The key feature of this model is the presence of ContiSeal technology. The essence of the technical innovation lies in the sealing of mechanical damage to the tread part of the protector. A special viscous substance is used for this purpose. Under the influence of the air flow coming out of the tire, it fills the puncture site, after which it hardens, forming a hermetically sealed elastic "patch". The effectiveness of the process does not depend on the presence or absence of the object that caused the puncture. The only limitation of this technology is the size of the damage - no more than 5 mm in diameter.
Directional Tread Pattern
The tread part of the protector is made in an asymmetric design. It is distinguished by a network of deep drainage grooves, a significant part of which is located at a large angle. This allows for the rapid removal of water and its mixture with snow from the contact patch, using the rotational force of the wheel for this purpose.
Another feature of the tread pattern is the rigid connection between the blocks using special "bridges". Narrow crossbars limit the mutual mobility of the elements, which improves the stability of the traction properties, especially when maneuvering.
Lamellas
The tread part of the protector is literally covered with narrow slits. The number of these elements is counted in thousands, as well as the sharp edges formed by them. Due to their large number, the lamellas affect traction and handling on slippery surfaces similar to the work of studs. The edges formed by these slits easily penetrate the water film on the surface of the road, allowing the tire to effectively grip even the smallest irregularities.
It is worth noting the use by the developers of lamellas of two types. P-shaped elements are located in the shoulder zones, improving handling due to their shape. In the central part, standard wavy 3D lamellas are used, which increase the longitudinal traction properties.
Main Features of Continental ContiVikingContact 7 ContiSeal
- self-seals small punctures, sealing them with a special substance;
- asymmetric design with long inclined edges provides excellent traction on slippery surfaces;
- two types of 3D lamellas improve the work of the protector on icy surfaces.
