The winter tire Continental ContiVikingContact 6 SUV ContiSilent is a special version of the same model for SUV vehicles. The key difference from the tire in the standard version is a better level of acoustic comfort, achieved through ContiSilent technology. In terms of driving qualities, both tires are identical to each other.
Acoustic Comfort
On the move, the tire stands out for its high level of acoustic comfort, even for premium segment models. A significant part of this is provided by the ContiSilent noise and vibration reduction technology. A special layer of foamed polyurethane is applied to the inner side of the tire, with numerous small cavities filled with air. This effectively prevents the spread of low-frequency noise and vibrations.
DDT Technology
Another innovation used in this model is the Devided Tread technology. As part of its use, the tread pattern is divided into several functional areas. It is precisely this that explains the developers' choice in favor of asymmetry in its design and the balance of all main operational properties. The central part improves traction, and on low-grip surfaces, it allows for maximum intensity braking. The inner side of the pattern prevents aquaplaning and slushplaning, as well as performance on snow. In turn, the outer side improves performance when maneuvering on dry pavement.
Step Lugs
This model on surfaces with an extremely low coefficient of friction is extremely effective. To a significant extent, this is due to the original design of the lugs. In the side projection, they have small steps, which expands the functionality of the slots. They limit the mobility of the lugs when contacting the road surface, opening them at a wider angle. As a result, the tread can grasp and hold snow, additionally enhancing traction on such a surface.
Improved Rubber Compound
The tread part of the tread is made from the Nordic Soft rubber compound. It is characterized by its ability to maintain high elasticity at low temperatures. This is achieved due to the composition based on fine silica particles. In turn, resistance to heat, mechanical damage is provided by a complex of substances based on polymers and soot particles.
