The all-season Continental ContiTrac SUV tire is designed for use primarily on paved roads. Being targeted at everyday application, it features balanced driving qualities, along with acoustic comfort, smooth ride, and long service life.
The tread pattern is composed mainly of a large number of small blocks. The exception is a continuous longitudinal rib that runs right in the middle of the tread. It increases directional stability, reducing wear and rolling resistance. The rest of the tread is a combination of numerous blocks with slits and straight edges. They improve traction and braking properties on wet surfaces, along with wide longitudinal grooves that effectively prevent the formation of a solid water film between the tire and the road surface. A notable feature is the trapezoidal profile of the shoulder blocks. It gives them resistance to deformation, which reduces the risk of uneven wear on the tread, increasing the tire's service life. This design improves handling precision and stability when cornering, giving the tire "passenger car" characteristics of grip. Despite the presence of a large number of individual elements in the tread pattern, the tire demonstrates a fairly high level of acoustic comfort. This is largely due to their mutual arrangement, with a certain pitch relative to each other. This minimizes the risk of resonance noise and vibrations, which has a positive effect on the acoustic comfort inside the vehicle, reducing low-frequency hum in particular.
