The Continental ContiSportContact 5P ContiSeal summer tire is a special version of the same "passenger car" model. The key difference from it is the ability to independently eliminate minor penetrating damage to the tread. In other operational and driving qualities, both tires are identical. The model is characterized by stable, sporty-honed handling, high braking efficiency, both on dry and wet surfaces.
Reliability
The key feature of the tire is the ability to self-seal when minor damage occurs. This is ensured by a special polymer paste applied in a thin layer to the inside of the tread. When a through hole with a diameter of up to 5-6 mm appears, it is sealed by the airflow coming out of the tire, even if the object that caused the damage is present. The process is highly intense, resulting in minimal pressure loss inside the tire.
Macro-blocks
The tread part of the tread, which has an asymmetric design, is divided into several functional areas. Each of them improves certain driving qualities. One such area is the outer shoulder zone. It is formed from massive blocks unfolded across, paired together. The "macro-blocks" formed in this way are highly resistant to deformation. This allows the tire to maintain traction at significant lateral accelerations. The transverse edges formed by such blocks increase the effectiveness of the tread during braking.
Adaptive rubber compound
The tread part of the tread is made from the latest version of the Black Chilli compound. Its key feature is the ability to change a number of properties depending on the mode of action. This is ensured by the use of special polymers in the composition of the rubber mixture. When braking, those polymers are activated that have shorter molecular chains. This leads to rapid heating of the tread, thanks to which it becomes more elastic and, as a result, more grip on the road surface.
During prolonged uniform movement at high speed, polymers with longer molecular bonds are activated. This reduces the heating of the tread and, along with it, the rolling resistance. As a result, fuel consumption is reduced, as is the tire wear rate.
