The Continental ContiProContact passenger summer tire was specifically designed by the famous German manufacturer for summer conditions. This model is produced in more than 30 sizes, ranging from 185/65R15 to 245/45R19, which means that this tire is applicable to a very wide range of modern passenger cars.
For this model, German tire manufacturers chose an S-shaped design of the non-directional tread pattern of the Continental ContiProContact tire, which features several interesting design solutions. One of the most notable innovations was the technology of so-called "active edges" — PROactive edge Technology. This technology involves providing as many tread ribs as possible, as well as their location strictly perpendicular to the road surface in any driving mode. This not only improved traction but also led to a significant reduction in noise levels.
Another innovation was the use of PROgressive Groove Ramp technology - progressive groove inclination. This technical solution is in a special rounded shape of the drainage channels. Due to this, it was possible not only to ensure more efficient water removal from the contact patch but also to significantly increase the stiffness of the tread elements, which, in turn, led to an improvement in the main operating parameters.
This tire also used the Controlled Sipe Interaction technology, designed to reduce the deformation of the tire's tread blocks. This was achieved by giving the sipes an arched shape. When in contact with the road surface, these sipes are blocked, which leads to a significant increase in the stiffness of the tread blocks. This, in turn, led to improved handling and a reduced risk of uneven wear, which increased the life of the tire.
