The winter tire Continental ContiIceContact 3 ContiSeal is suitable for most modern passenger cars. It is a special version of the same-name model, differing from it in increased reliability. In other operational properties, both tires are practically identical, demonstrating excellent efficiency on rolled snow and ice.
Increased reliability
The name of this model uses the phrase ContiSeal. This is due to the use in the tire design of the same-name technology, which increases its reliability and, as a consequence, extends the service life in unfavorable operating conditions. This property is ensured by applying a special material to the inner side of the tire, enclosed in an elastic shell. Its purpose is to seal the tire in the event of a penetrating damage to the tread. In this case, the viscous material is pulled into the hole by the flow of exiting air with subsequent hardening. This technology allows for the elimination of penetrating damage with a diameter of up to 0.5 cm even when the object that caused it is stuck in the tread.
Updated spikes
Variants of this model with a landing diameter of at least 17 inches are equipped with an innovative ContiFlexStud spike. Its key feature is the design of the hard alloy insert, placed inside a special elastic shell. It provides the steel element with a certain mobility. As a result, the contact of the spikes with the road surface becomes more stable. This made it possible to significantly increase the level of transmission of the traction force compared to the tire of the previous generation, thereby improving the efficiency of the tread on rolled snow and ice. In addition, such a spike produces much less noise and vibration, since a significant part of them is absorbed by the elastic shell. Another important advantage of this solution is the more reliable retention of the steel element in the tread.
