The Continental ContiCrossContact UHP E tire is designed specifically for powerful premium-class crossovers and SUVs equipped with hybrid and electric powertrains, oriented towards a dynamic driving style. The main emphasis in creating this model was placed on combining sporty characteristics, reduced rolling resistance, and increased mileage.
Such a combination of operational properties is ensured by the use of a whole complex of technological solutions. First of all, this is the Black Chili compound, the composition of which is based on microdispersed polymers and functionalized silicates. This formula provides optimal interaction between the tire and the road surface at the molecular level. Thanks to it, the tire quickly adapts to temperature changes and road conditions, maintaining a high coefficient of friction over a wide range of speeds. Low rolling resistance contributes to fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions, making the model not only dynamic but also energy-efficient.
Another component was the design of the tread pattern, created within the framework of the so-called "macro-block" technology. The outer zone of the tread contains enlarged blocks with reinforced shoulder ribs, which minimize deformation when cornering at high speeds. This increases stability and steering accuracy, improving feedback with the steering wheel. The inner part of the tread, on the contrary, is saturated with a system of longitudinal and transverse drainage grooves, which provide effective water removal from the contact patch. This solution significantly reduces the risk of aquaplaning, increasing safety on wet asphalt.
It is also worth noting the construction of the tire carcass. It is made of lightweight but strong synthetic fibers, which made it possible to reduce the weight of the structure without compromising its rigidity. Such an architecture improves dynamic stability and pressure distribution in the contact patch, increasing even wear and durability.
