The Bridgestone Turanza EL450 summer tire is designed for use in compact crossovers. It is part of the standard equipment of the Lexus UX. The tire design features the Run-Flat technology, or rather its "author's" version from the Japanese brand. The tire is designed to allow driving up to 80 kilometers at a speed of up to 80 km/h with complete loss of air pressure inside. The special tread pattern and increased stiffness of the sidewalls allow the tire not to "fold" in such conditions due to the optimization of the carcass. The part of the carcass that is located in the sidewalls features a special winding technology that increases the stability of the structure to deformation and allows reducing the weight of the tire. As a result, not only reliability but also reduced rolling resistance is ensured.
The tread pattern is notable for the increased number of gripping edges. A significant part of them is formed by lamellas. The unidirectional grooves with their sharpened edges allow the tire to effectively grip even wet surfaces, easily penetrating the water film on its surface. This ability is significantly enhanced by the rubber compound with a very high content of "silica" based on natural rubber. It remains elastic at low temperatures, allowing the tire to tightly envelop even the smallest irregularities.
