Since the creation of this tire, Japanese specialists have put universality in any conditions at the forefront, so its tread is equipped with a symmetrical directional V-shaped pattern. It consists of five functional zones – longitudinal ribs separated by wide drainage grooves. The central part of the tread is occupied by a massive rib, the solid structure of which gives this zone excellent rigidity. Due to this, the tire demonstrates excellent directional stability throughout the speed range. In addition, the wide and solid longitudinal rib allowed significantly increasing the responsiveness of the steering, which introduced sports features into the handling character.
Lightning grooves
The main purpose of these tread elements is to increase the efficiency of the drainage system and traction. The lightning-shaped grooves form additional grip edges, located almost at a right angle to the direction of movement, which significantly increases the traction force, especially on wet asphalt. At the same time, the grooves located at an acute angle to the direction of movement and differing in large length contribute to increasing the water removal speed from the contact patch, which in practice gave a significant increase in resistance to aquaplaning.
