This tire is produced in more than 90 different sizes from 16 to 20 inches with a speed index of Y and W, which means that the tire is designed for powerful passenger cars of various classes, starting from so-called "hot" hatchbacks and ending with sports coupes.
When developing the Bridgestone Potenza RE050 A tire, engineers of the Japanese company applied technologies that were previously used only in Formula 1 racing. In particular, when developing the design of the tread pattern, the CTDM comprehensive approach technology was applied. With the help of specialized computer modeling tools, it was possible to find a practically ideal combination between the tread pattern design, the carcass structure, and the rubber compound, which allowed ensuring the tire's excellent coupling and handling characteristics on dry and wet surfaces.
Another distinctive feature of this tire is the use of the O-BEAD technology in the rim construction, which provides a very tight contact between the tire and the wheel disk. Due to this, it was possible to significantly reduce the level of vibrations.
The rubber compound was selected taking into account high loads. In particular, to enhance the strength of the tire's tread, carbon was used in the rubber compound. As a result, the tire's tread has increased strength, resistance to cracks, and excellent elasticity.
Main features of the Bridgestone Potenza RE050 A tire
- Exceptional resistance to aquaplaning is provided by four deep water drainage grooves and a system of diagonal channels;
- Reinforced construction of the shoulder zones, which ensures excellent coupling when turning and high resistance to uneven wear;
- Rigid construction of the longitudinal rib in the center of the tread, due to which the tire demonstrates excellent directional stability.

Best tire ever!!!
I have a 225/40/18 XL. I'm extremely satisfied with the tire, I can compare, having driven on Michelin Pilot Sport 3, Pirelli P Zero Rosso and Dunlop Sport Maxx TT, after them the handling is like a racing car. Excellent tyres with a good grip on wet and dry roads, straight or curved, always feel secure, regardless of the weather conditions (not tested in winter). The tyre's profile looks almost new after more than 20,000 km. Considering the weight of the vehicle (1,900 kg), these tyres are one of the best on the market.
