The Bridgestone Blizzak Ice winter tire is suitable for almost any modern passenger car. It was developed based on the VRX2 model, which shared its tread pattern design with the new product. The key difference between it and its predecessor is the use of a more modern rubber compound, which improved the main operational properties, primarily on slippery winter roads, and also increased the tire's service life.
Best stud fixation
The effectiveness of the tread on ice and rolled snow is largely ensured by the optimized stud design. The body of the part is made of aluminum, which reduces the weight of the tire. It has a polygonal shape, which forms additional contact areas. The top of the hard alloy insert is made conical, which increases the pressure on the road surface. The stud anchor is located in the sub-tread layer, made of a more rigid rubber compound than the tread.
High reliability
The distinctive feature of the tires of this Japanese brand is high reliability even on the worst roads. This is due to the reinforced sidewall design. This model is no exception. Its sidewalls, in addition to the optimized profile, have an additional cord. It is made of ultra-strong composite material, resistant not only to impact, but also to punctures and cuts.
Tread pattern
The tread of the tire is made in a V-shaped design with a wide solid longitudinal rib in the center. This element, having high deformation resistance, gives the tire stability of traction properties at high-speed movement. The shoulder blocks are arranged in pairs and have a curved shape of the transverse edges. It enhances the longitudinal traction properties on snow, preventing skidding and making it easier to exit the rut. The effectiveness of the tread on slippery winter roads, in addition to the studs, is ensured by several thousand lamellas. The side walls of the grooves have protrusions in all three projections. On the one hand, this limits the mobility of the blocks, and on the other hand, it ensures the opening of the lamellas at the maximum angle with fixation of this position under the load of the vehicle's weight.
