The Bridgestone Ecopia EP500 passenger tire is designed for use in passenger vehicles equipped with electric and "hybrid" powertrains. It features reduced rolling resistance while maintaining the "signature" properties of Japanese brand tires - strong sidewalls, resistance to abrasive wear.

The significantly reduced rolling resistance is due to the narrow tread width. For example, for the R20 tire, this figure is 195 mm. In addition, the tire uses a rigid and lightweight frame made of synthetic materials. In combination with the "signature" sidewalls, this not only reduces rolling resistance but also has a positive impact on ride comfort and handling. Nevertheless, the developers were able to maintain driving qualities at a high level not only due to this. This was achieved through the use of large elements in the tread pattern. Closely spaced massive blocks and ribs increase the contact patch, have significant resistance to deformation, which guarantees directional stability at high speeds, precise handling, and stability during maneuvering, as well as reducing rolling resistance and preventing rapid tread wear.

A significant part of the tread pattern area is occupied by drainage grooves. These elements minimize the risk of aquaplaning, ensuring reliable handling even in heavy rain. It is worth noting the use of a rubber compound with a high "silica" content. This compound remains elastic at low temperatures, allowing the tread to closely follow all the smallest irregularities on the road surface.
