Winter non-studded tires Bridgestone Blizzak VRX are one of the novelties of the Japanese tire giant. Due to the widest size range, this model is perfectly suitable for operation on almost any modern passenger car, starting from city compacts and ending with premium-class sedans. Another key feature of this tire is a significantly modified asymmetric tread pattern, as well as a tread made from a new version of the Multi-cell Compound rubber mixture.
Next-generation rubber compound
One of the most significant innovations of this model was the new generation of the proprietary Multi-Cell Compound rubber mixture. Thanks to a number of special components and a changed preparation technology, Japanese tire makers were able to significantly improve handling and braking efficiency on icy surfaces.
As you know, over time, the Bridgestone Blizzak VRX tire, due to tread wear, loses a significant part of its initial grip properties. In addition, the rubber mixture itself becomes more rigid, which significantly reduces braking efficiency. The new generation of Multi-Cell Compound rubber mixture, as it wears out, forms a large number of micropores, which allows the tread elasticity to be maintained at its initial level for 3-4 winter seasons.
In addition, the porous structure of the rubber mixture has a beneficial effect on the grip properties when driving on icy and wet roads. The multitude of micropores, 0.3 mm in size, like a sponge, absorbs the water film from the surface of the road, providing a higher level of safety even in the most unfavorable conditions.
Increased number of gripping edges
If we compare this model with its predecessor, the tread pattern contains a significantly larger number of gripping edges. Due to this, the tire holds much better on snowy surfaces, and the increased size of the drainage grooves allowed for a significant improvement in the self-cleaning properties of the tread.
