The four "stars" in most ratings of the Bridgestone Blizzak LM30 winter tire are due to the fact that most domestic car owners do not understand that this model is designed for operation in rather specific climatic conditions. These are characteristic of Central and Western Europe, where winters are not as harsh as in regions located too close to the Arctic Circle. But even in such conditions, it demonstrates worthy efficiency, providing a sufficiently high level of safety on any winter roads.
Microporous compound Bridgestone Blizzak LM30
Like other representatives of the Blizzak model line, the Bridgestone Blizzak LM30 tread is made from the famous Multi-Cell compound, which has previously proven itself to be the best. In the version used in this model, it is distinguished by the presence of an even greater number of special micropores that, when in contact with an icy surface, dry it out, thereby ensuring better traction with it. At the same time, the effectiveness of their work remains unchanged even with significant tread wear, due to the uniform distribution of micropores in it.
High-performance asymmetric tread pattern
Bridgestone Blizzak LM30 is equipped with a tread having an asymmetric design, divided into several separate functional zones. Its outer side contains massive blocks distributed over two very wide longitudinal ribs. It is on them that the tire relies when turning, demonstrating excellent directional stability and very stable traction properties. During acceleration and braking, the blocks on the outer side of the tread provide excellent performance in the form of excellent longitudinal traction characteristics. In turn, the inner side of the tread improves traction on snow, while reducing rolling resistance and noise level.
Excellent ice traction without spikes
In addition to the porous rubber mixture, traction on icy roads is provided by several thousand sharp edges. The vast majority of them are formed not by blocks, but by wavy lamellas cut through the entire depth of the tread. They are located at different angles, which gives the ice traction even greater stability. At the same time, the wavy shape of the lamella walls increases the rigidity of the blocks in the transverse direction, which has a positive effect on handling and the speed and clarity of the tire's reactions to steering wheel turns.
Main features:
- microporous compound improves ice traction by drying the contact area;
- several thousand lamellas fully compensate for the lack of spikes, providing excellent traction properties on rolled snow and ice;
- excellent efficiency on any winter roads thanks to the asymmetric tread design with several functional zones.
