Apollo Acelere winter – a winter model designed for real operating conditions of passenger transport in a metropolis. Daily accelerations and braking at traffic lights, maneuvers in dense traffic, snowy courtyards and icy entrances — it is here that this tire reveals its strong points.
“Rib” as a guarantee of directional stability
The central zone of the tread is made in the form of a solid rib, supplemented by numerous zigzag-shaped lamellas. It:
- increases the contact area to optimal values, which positively affects the coupling properties when moving straight and turning;
- increases the stiffness of the central part, preventing deformation under load when maneuvering;
- provides predictable steering and clear adherence to a given trajectory on a snowy or icy road.
Total control on ice
The main feature is a dense network of lamellas that cover all elements of the tread. Each slit, when entering the contact patch, opens up, creating additional gripping edges. In combination with the block system, this provides the following advantages:
- on an icy road, the lamellas are fixed on the surface;
- on rolled snow, the numerous edges of the lamellas act like “saw teeth”, ensuring reliable braking and acceleration without slipping.
The driver is in complete control of the car's behavior, even when making emergency maneuvers on a slippery road.
Hydrodynamic channels
Between the tread blocks, there is a developed network of diagonally directed channels that open outward in the shoulder areas. When driving on wet snow, slush, or puddles, they provide:
- rapid water and slush drainage;
- self-cleaning of channels due to expansion to the “shoulders”;
- maintaining the effectiveness of traction and braking throughout the winter, even with partial wear of the tread.
The shoulder areas with open channel outlets also improve heat dissipation from the braking system — an additional plus for intense city driving.
Flexibility in frost
The rubber compound contains special polymeric additives that provide elasticity and stable frictional properties on ice, as well as on wet asphalt.
Key features of Apollo Acelere winter:
- a dense network of lamellas provides reliable grip on ice and rolled snow, preventing skidding and slipping;
- a solid central rib provides clear directional stability and predictable reactions;
- developed drainage channels with an outlet in the shoulder areas quickly evacuate slush, meltwater, and dirt, maintaining traction and braking properties.
