Description Amtel Cargo S
The all-season light truck tire Amtel Cargo S appeared in 2008, shortly before the bankruptcy of this well-known domestic manufacturer, which makes it a kind of "swan song". However, its consumer and operational characteristics turned out to be so successful that it is still being produced at the Kirov Tire Plant. This model, as its name suggests, is designed for small-tonnage commercial vehicles.
Since the company's specialists sought to balance handling and low rolling resistance, the tire was equipped with a very popular S-shaped symmetric non-directional tread pattern.
A characteristic feature of its design is the large number of tread blocks spaced at a small distance from each other. At the same time, five longitudinal ribs are formed from the blocks. This design, on the one hand, has a large contact patch, where external pressure is distributed very evenly, and on the other hand, is saturated with a large number of gripping edges. Thanks to this solution, it was possible to solve several problems at once. Firstly, to improve directional stability, increase traction on slippery surfaces, ensure high structural strength, and also reduce rolling resistance.
Another design feature of the Amtel Cargo S tire is the developed drainage system, consisting of four longitudinal channels where water is collected, and many transverse channels through which water is discharged outward. In addition, on the surface of the tread blocks, there are straight lamellas that are also designed to remove water from the contact patch. Their principle of operation is most reminiscent of the work of windshield wipers, "brushing" water off the surface of the windshield.
Main features of the Amtel Cargo S model
- Large contact patch area, even load distribution over it, thanks to the five-rib design of the symmetric non-directional tread pattern;
- Excellent fuel economy is ensured by the small distance between the tread blocks;
- Excellent traction in any road conditions due to the large number of sharp edges formed by the multitude of tread blocks;
- Excellent resistance to aquaplaning is achieved due to the high efficiency of the drainage system, which perfectly copes with the removal of even large amounts of moisture from the contact patch.
