Winter tire for passenger cars Altenzo Sports Tempest has a number of interesting features. This model is an international tire product, as it was developed in Australia and manufactured in China. At the same time, it was created specifically for the countries of Northern Europe and Russia, where this tire has appeared relatively recently. Nevertheless, it has managed to become quite popular. This is not due to its attractive price, but rather to its good operational properties. Among them, it is worth noting the excellent traction on winter roads, long service life, and fuel efficiency.

Reinforced breaker

One of the notable features of this model's design is the two-layer breaker. Both layers are made of steel cord. The so-called "seamless" winding technology was used in the process. Thanks to this feature, both cords have increased density and reduced weight. This has led to an improvement in several operational properties of the tire. First and foremost, the presence of such a rigid "base" directly under the tread has given it increased stability, especially at high speeds, as well as optimal load distribution. The end result was a significant increase in the stability of the traction properties and an extension of the tread life due to improved resistance to wear, the likelihood of which was minimized.

Good traction

The design of the drainage system of this tire's tread is worth noting separately. All its components have increased efficiency. In particular, the longitudinal drainage groove located in the center of the tread has a large internal volume. This allows for the intense removal of water and slush from the contact patch. The transverse drainage grooves adjacent to it, in addition to their significant internal volume, are characterized by their inclined position and direction against the movement, as well as a curved shape that prevents the formation of water swirls. Both of these design features significantly increase their throughput and, together with it, the tire's resistance to aquaplaning and slushplaning.

Excellent handling

This model is characterized by the speed and accuracy of its response to steering wheel turns. This is mainly due to the design of the central part of its tread. A double longitudinal rib is located here. Both "halves" of it have a rigid solid structure that maintains stability even under significant impact of multidirectional acceleration forces. This allows the tire to respond very quickly and accurately to any driver actions, providing clear feedback and creating a sense of ease in handling the vehicle.

Confidence on ice and packed snow

Despite its "summer" name, this tire demonstrates more than confident behavior on packed snow and ice. This is mainly due to the several thousand lamellas cut into all the tread blocks. When moving, they form a corresponding number of traction edges, which is more than enough to provide reliable and confident behavior on any slippery and smooth surface. Additionally, if necessary, this model can be equipped with almost a hundred spikes, for which special mounting seats are provided on its tread. They are arranged in such a way that during movement, 8 continuous "anti-skid chains" are formed. This further improves traction on ice, giving it excellent stability and reliability.

Excellent traction properties in turns and deep snow

The shoulder areas of this tire's tread have extended functionality. During movement, these areas of the tire improve several important operational characteristics. This feature is due to the design of the blocks located here, which are characterized by significant width and transverse arrangement. When in contact with the road, they form very long traction edges, which, on the one hand, improves passability in deep snow, and on the other hand, significantly reduces the braking distance. Additionally, due to their large width, the tire demonstrates excellent traction and resistance to skidding during maneuvering and turns. Another advantage of this design is the more even distribution of load across the contact patch, which gives predictability to handling and also improves the tread's resistance to uneven wear.
