Aeolus AW05 Snow Ace – a winter model adapted to the realities of mild but treacherous European winters, where the temperature fluctuates around zero, and the road can be dry, icy, or covered with wet snow. The tyre is designed for passenger cars and compact crossovers that spend most of their time in urban cycles but do not lose confidence on out-of-town highways.

“Rib” as a directional stabilizer

The basis of the tread is a medium-sized central longitudinal rib with numerous notches. During straight-line driving, it works as a directional stabilizer, providing stability and minimal rolling resistance. And when it hits loose snow, each lamella starts working individually, penetrating the surface and creating additional traction edges.

Grip and enhanced lateral support

Moving towards the edges of the tread, we encounter massive shoulder blocks made of a denser rubber compound. Their geometry with sharp edges and increased stiffness performs two critically important functions:

- when entering a turn, the shoulder area takes on the main lateral load, and its increased density prevents the tread from “folding”, maintaining stability and steering informativeness;
- the blocks work like “claws” on ice or compacted snow — they dig into the surface during lateral sliding, reducing the risk of skidding and improving capability in deep snow on uncleared sections.

Lamella technology

A special pride of the model — three-dimensional lamellae. This is a complex spatial structure inside each block. When the tyre contacts ice, the lamellae open, creating multiple additional grip edges that literally “dig” into the ice. However, when driving on dry asphalt, they close, ensuring the stiffness of the element and preventing its deformation during braking.

Efficiency in every molecule

For the model, a compound is developed using silica and a range of polymers. As a result:

- optimal elasticity is achieved at low temperatures;
- the braking distance on wet surfaces is reduced due to micro-roughness.
