Chinese specialists were able to achieve this by equipping the tread pattern with four longitudinal drainage grooves. Their fairly large volume allows them to accommodate a significant amount of water, which is then discharged outside the tread through a system of transverse channels. Additional resistance to aquaplaning is provided by a multitude of straight lamellas located throughout the tread. When in contact with the road, they, opening up, form edges that literally sweep moisture from its surface.
