Description Continental ScoopMaster
The choice of name for the Continental ScoopMaster tyre was due to its area of application — load and haul machines (LHD) used in underground mining. The model is designed for equipment that transports large volumes of rock mass over short distances through workings with sharp rock and abrasive coatings. The main focus in creating the model was on protecting the carcass from damage, maintaining traction properties, and increasing the resource during constant operation under high load.
Smooth, ultra-strong tread
A smooth L5S category tread with increased tread thickness is used here. This design significantly reduces the likelihood of punctures and impact damage to the carcass when in contact with rocky terrain. The significant contact patch area improves the transmission of traction force, limits wheel spin, and promotes more even wear of the working surface. The large amount of rubber increases the allowable wear, allowing the tyre to maintain its operational characteristics for longer without reducing the performance of the equipment.
Protected design for underground workings
One of the key features is the use of V.ply technology, which provides a multi-layered carcass with high resistance to fatigue deformations. In combination with a special carcass rubber compound, this design effectively withstands impact loads and maintains strength during constant operation with heavy loads. An additional protective rib on the sidewall is made from a rubber compound resistant to cuts, which reliably protects the most vulnerable area of the tyre from contact with sharp rock edges.
Ability to monitor tread condition
To simplify maintenance, indicators of residual tread depth are provided. Their shape not only facilitates visual assessment of the degree of wear but also prevents stones from getting stuck, reducing the risk of foreign objects penetrating to the carcass elements. This solution helps to plan equipment maintenance in a timely manner and reduces the likelihood of premature tyre failure in conditions of a continuous production cycle.
Key features of the Continental ScoopMaster:
- A smooth, ultra-strong tread of increased thickness protects the carcass from punctures and impacts, while also increasing the tyre's resource;
- V.ply technology increases the strength of the design, reduces fatigue deformations, and increases durability during intensive operation;
- The reinforced sidewall with an additional protective rib effectively resists cuts and damage from sharp rocks;
- Wear indicators of a special shape simplify monitoring of the tread condition and reduce the likelihood of carcass damage from stuck stones.
