The appearance of the Pirelli Scorpion Pro motorcycle tire is owed to the world motocross championship, for which it was specifically designed. However, this does not mean that this model is intended exclusively for racing. It boasts excellent traction properties on various types of surfaces, except for asphalt, which will hardly upset owners of motocross motorcycles and enduro bikes with engines up to 400 cc.
Original shape of tread blocks
One of the distinctive features of the tread pattern of this tire is the numerous blocks that make it up. They are made in the shape of a pyramid, which facilitates deeper penetration of the tread elements into the ground, thereby improving traction.
At the same time, it is impossible not to note the extremely successful scheme of arrangement of the tread blocks. In the central part, they form a multitude of transverse ribs, which provide maximum traction properties in the longitudinal direction. Another feature of the central part of the tread is the very large distance between the transverse ribs, which allows the tread to quickly get rid of even very large particles of soil.
In turn, the shoulder areas are also composed of separate pyramid-shaped blocks, but their arrangement scheme is slightly different, since this part of the tread is designed to perform slightly different tasks. First of all, this is ensuring the stability of the motorcycle at significant lean angles. That's why the blocks of the shoulder areas are arranged in a checkerboard pattern.
Durable carcass made of synthetic materials
When developing this tire, special attention was paid to ensuring the lowest possible weight. That's why its carcass is made exclusively of synthetic materials. In particular, the cord is made of polyester. This material is distinguished not only by its excellent mechanical strength and low weight but also by its excellent elasticity, thanks to which the tire has acquired the ability to effectively absorb shock loads.
In addition, a breaker layer made of nylon fibers is located directly under the tread. This material reliably protects the tire from punctures and cuts, ensuring a longer service life.
