The Michelin Starcross MS3 summer motorcycle tire fully justifies the name of the entire line of models designed for motocross. After all, it is with this model that the French tire manufacturer is associated with a whole series of championship titles in motocross, which were won in just a few previous years. Another key feature of this tire is the scope of application - it is quite wide, since its design, including, first of all, the tread pattern, is designed for intensive use on various types of surfaces.
Different tread pattern for front and rear tires
Since this model is designed for use in high-performance sports, everything was done during its development to provide the maximum possible operational characteristics. One of such solutions was the creation of two different versions - for the front and rear tires, which is due to the specifics of their operation.
In particular, the front Michelin Starcross MS3 tire is distinguished by increased pressure on the ground and low rolling resistance. These seemingly incompatible characteristics were achieved due to the reduced tread width and its semi-circular profile. In addition, the presence of wide trapezoidal blocks in the central part of the tread and many similar quadrangular elements in the shoulder areas made it possible to achieve excellent course stability and excellent braking efficiency.
The tread pattern of the rear tire has a similar design. However, its increased width made it possible to make the blocks, as well as the contact patch, significantly larger, which, in combination with a more flat profile, made it possible to maximize the traction and coupling properties in the longitudinal direction.
Key features of the Michelin Starcross MS3 tire
- the tire is designed for use on motocross motorcycles on soft ground surfaces;
- two versions - for front and rear wheels, differing in contact patch size and profile radius;
- excellent course stability due to the semi-circular profile of the front tire, as well as the presence of numerous blocks in the central part and shoulder areas of the tread;
- excellent acceleration performance due to the flat profile and open design of the rear tire's tread pattern.
