Due to its specific features, the summer motorcycle tire Michelin Scorcher 11 is not too often found in free sale. The fact is that this model was specially created for motorcycles of the Harley-Davidson brand - Sportster, SuperLo, V-Rod Muscle, V-Rod and Night Rod Special. Among other features of this tire, it is worth noting two versions of execution - for the front and rear wheels, which differ significantly in the width of the tread.
Excellent grip on dry and wet roads
As you know, most Harley-Davidson motorcycles are equipped with V-Twin engines with a volume of more than 1000 cubic centimeters, which develop a huge torque. To fully realize it, the French tire manufacturers made the tread of the rear tire Michelin Scorcher 11 very wide, which allowed to significantly increase the size of the contact patch. This was largely contributed by the carefully calculated curvature of the profile. In addition, in combination with the special design of the carcass, this made it possible to preserve both the size and shape of the contact patch unchanged, even at significant angles of inclination of the motorcycle, thereby ensuring stable and reliable handling on dry roads.
As for the grip properties on wet pavement, they are also at a very high level, thanks to the layout of the tread pattern, which was largely borrowed from sports motorcycle tires. It is equipped with a large number of grip edges that start in the central part of the tread and end almost on the sidewalls of the tire.
At the same time, they are the walls of wide drainage grooves, thanks to which water is quickly and efficiently removed from the contact patch, which is why the tire demonstrates excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
Main features of the Michelin Scorcher 11 tire
- excellent grip on dry roads, thanks to a very large contact patch, the size and shape of which remain unchanged even at significant angles of inclination of the motorcycle, which is ensured by the carefully calculated curvature of the profile and the special design of the carcass;
- excellent traction and grip properties on wet surfaces are provided thanks to the presence of very long drainage grooves that form numerous grip edges;
- excellent resistance to aquaplaning is ensured by a large number of volumetric drainage channels, the arrangement of which contributes to a significant increase in the speed of water removal from the contact patch.
