The summer motorcycle tire Michelin Power Pure SC will in any case leave a mark in the history of the French manufacturer. The fact is that it is the first model for scooters, the tread of which is made from two rubber compounds. In addition to this, this tire contains many other technical solutions that were previously used exclusively in models for sports motorcycles.

2 Compound Technology

As mentioned earlier, the Michelin Power Pure SC tread is made from two different rubber compounds. The main difference between them is elasticity. A more rigid compound is contained in the central part of the tread, which provides reduced rolling resistance, high directional stability, and increased resistance to abrasive wear.

The shoulder areas of the tread, which occupy a total of 60% of its entire area, are made from a more elastic rubber compound. This made it possible to significantly increase the grip with the road when performing maneuvers.

Tread pattern from racing motorcycle tires

In addition to the two-component compound, the French tire manufacturers borrowed the tread pattern from racing motorcycle tires. The main feature of this pattern is the "signature" semi-circular profile, which provides not only the maximum size of the contact patch, but also the stability of its shape and size, regardless of the scooter's tilt angle.

In addition, this model has a fairly developed drainage system, represented by numerous longitudinal and transverse channels. At the same time, they have a curved shape, which contributes to more effective removal of water from the contact patch. Moreover, these grooves form numerous traction edges, which has a very favorable effect on handling, especially in rainy conditions.

- the tire is specifically designed for high-speed scooters;
- the central part of the tread is made from a rigid rubber compound, and its shoulder areas are made from a more elastic composition, which allows the tire to demonstrate excellent directional stability, reduced rolling resistance, and high resistance to abrasive wear, as well as increased grip in turns;
- the tread pattern, "borrowed" from racing motorcycle tires, has excellent traction properties in any conditions.
