The Metzeler MO1 motorcycle tire is designed for small and medium-powered motorcycles (engine displacement from 50 to 250 cm3). Considering the large fleet of vehicles in this class, which are mainly used for movement on city roads, the designers of the German company Metzeler, when developing this model, relied on the specifics of driving in urban rhythm.
The concept of Metzeler MO1 tires includes such criteria:
- High maneuverability and safety;
- Stability on wet and dry roads;
- Increased wear resistance of the rubber.
In addition, when designing the model, the factor of probable risk in case of emergency situations was also taken into account, with the aim of excluding loss of control over the vehicle.
Design research led to the creation of Metzeler MO1 tires, in which it was possible to achieve optimization of technical and operational characteristics by averaging, taking into account the installation of such tires on both the front and rear axles. Therefore, the tires of the "MO1" model are interchangeable. The model is also not distinguished by a variety of options, the manufacturer limited itself to two sizes.
When designing the tread, the tread of the Metzeler ME1 model, designed for scooters and well-proven in urban driving, was taken as a prototype. The design of such a tread differs from all others in that it does not provide for division into blocks, and the roughness of the tire is created by applying radial-diagonal grooves of varying length. At the same time, the contact area with the road surface is maximized.
Main features of Metzeler MO1
- Ease and clarity of steering, minimization of the risk of loss of control over the vehicle in case of sharp braking in emergency situations;
- High level of comfort;
- Increased wear resistance of the rubber due to the introduction of polymeric fibers into the structure, which provides a long service life of the product;
- Excellent grip on dry and wet roads.
