Satoya ST-084
Description Satoya ST-084
The cargo tire Satoya ST-084 was developed specifically for use on the steering axle of trucks used in intercity and international transportation. This model is advantageously distinguished by excellent traction properties on asphalt roads, low rolling resistance, and a very long service life.
Increased tread width
One of the distinctive features of this model is the increased tread width. This made it possible to accommodate an increased number of six longitudinal ribs. At the same time, each of them has massive dimensions, which, in turn, significantly increased the resistance of these elements to dynamic deformation that occurs during movement. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent directional stability, maneuverability, and very low rolling resistance.
Another significant advantage of this design is the optimized distribution of external pressure over the contact patch. It was achieved not only due to the rigid construction of the tread elements but also due to the equal size of the shoulder zones and longitudinal ribs in the central part. In turn, these features significantly increased the load-carrying capacity and resistance of the tread to uneven wear, which had a positive effect on the service life of the tire.
Short braking distance on a wet road
Unlike the shoulder zones, the four longitudinal tread ribs contain a large number of additional elements in the form of straight lamellas that are cut through the entire depth of the tread. During movement, they form a large number of engagement edges. Due to their significant height and transverse arrangement, the tire demonstrates excellent braking efficiency, especially on a wet road.
Reinforced shoulder area design
Both shoulder zones stand out against the background of other tread pattern elements with massive dimensions and the absence of any additional elements. Due to this, the developers were able to improve several important operational qualities of this model at once. First of all, this is the load-carrying capacity and resistance to uneven wear, which have been improved due to the optimization of the distribution of external pressure over the contact patch. At the same time, it increased in size, and its shape became close to rectangular, which, in turn, led to an improvement in traction properties and handling characteristics on a dry road.
Main features of the Satoya ST-084 tire
- The tire was specifically designed for use on the steering axle of highway tractors;
- The increased tread width made it possible to increase the number of longitudinal ribs to 6, which, in combination with their massive dimensions and rigid construction, provides the tire with excellent directional stability, maneuverability, low rolling resistance, and resistance to uneven wear;
- The reinforced construction of the shoulder zones optimizes the distribution of external pressure over the contact patch, which increases the load-carrying capacity, extends the service life of the tire, and also improves traction and handling on a dry road;
- Multifunctional drainage grooves that not only remove water from the contact patch but also, due to their zigzag shape, prevent the tread from being clogged with foreign solid objects, which, in turn, increases the reliability and extends the service life of the tire.
