The Satoya SD-070 truck tire is a highly specialized product, designed for use on wheeled construction equipment. The Asian manufacturer positions it as a model developed for dump trucks used in the construction and mining industries. At the same time, the tire's marking contains the letter-symbol abbreviation M+S, which means it can be operated all year round. In combination with reliability and a long service life, this significantly increases the economic efficiency of using this tire.
Special compound
When developing the tire, the difficult operating conditions of wheeled equipment in the construction and mining industries were taken into account. For this reason, the tread's rubber compound contains a number of components that prevent mechanical damage even under aggressive impact. Additionally, the compound used has high resistance to abrasive wear, which, together with the increased tread depth, provides the tire with a long service life.
Open tread design
This model is characterized by high traction and grip characteristics, largely due to the design of the tread pattern. The blocks contained in it are arranged in such a way that during movement, they form groups of five elements each, creating S-shaped transverse edges that run across the entire tread. These edges enhance traction when accelerating and braking, while also reducing rolling resistance and preventing the occurrence of resonance noise.
Increased contact patch width
The tread profile in the lateral projection is practically flat. This shape allows the contact patch to be significantly expanded, reducing the tire's specific pressure on the road surface. In addition to obvious benefits, such as improved traction, this solution has reduced the abrasive effect on the tread, which has a positive impact on its wear resistance and, consequently, its service life. Furthermore, the flat tread profile, combined with the square shape of the shoulder blocks, has increased the tire's resistance to impacts when driving over rough terrain.
Increased load capacity
Even within its category, the tire has high load-carrying capacities, largely achieved through the reinforced carcass construction and optimized sidewall shape. The tire's carcass is all-steel and consists of several cords manufactured using modern winding methods. The sidewalls have an elliptical shape, which, thanks to the use of a steel cord, remains resistant to deformation even under the impact of heavy loads and shocks when driving over rough terrain.
