All-season truck tires Michelin X Line Energy D are one of the most notable innovations of one of the leaders of the global tire industry. This model, combining economy and durability, is designed for installation on any axles of trucks used for intercity and international transportation. Currently, the tire is produced in the following sizes – 215/75R17.5, 235/75R17.5, 245/70R17.5, and 265/70R19.5.
Unlike other models of fuel-saving tires for highway tractors, the novelty stands out, first of all, with an aggressive design of a symmetrical non-directional tread pattern. One of the key features of the tread pattern of the Michelin X Line Energy D model is the advanced lamination technology Matrix Spring Technology, which was first used on a tire for highway tractors. The lamination was applied to three longitudinal ribs of the central part of the tread, consisting of separate blocks.
On the surface of these blocks, there are zigzag-shaped lamellas, the walls of which are firmly fixed to each other when in contact with the road surface. Due to this, the tread blocks become much more rigid, which significantly improves handling characteristics. At the same time, the contact patch, in addition to the edges of the tread blocks, receives many sharp edges of traction, which significantly increases traction and braking efficiency, especially on wet asphalt.
Another innovation was the dual-compound structure of the tread Dual Energy Compound Tread. In other words, the tread of the tire has a two-layer structure. The lower layer, made of a more rigid rubber compound, provides low tire carcass temperature and reduced rolling resistance during movement. The upper layer is made of a more elastic rubber compound, also optimized to reduce rolling resistance, while providing tread durability.
