The commercial tyre Michelin X Incity Z is designed for urban and suburban buses that operate daily in heavy traffic conditions, frequent stops, and intense manoeuvring. The model is intended for use on steering and other axles, combining high mileage with reliability during constant acceleration and braking cycles. Particular attention was paid to reducing operating costs, protecting the carcass from damage, and maintaining stable characteristics throughout its service life.
Protection designed for urban operation
When driving on urban routes, the tyre regularly experiences the impact of curbs and other obstacles. That's why it features reinforced sidewalls, which reduce the risk of damage. A protective layer is located under the tread, protecting the carcass from impact loads and punctures. The design is complemented by a reinforced area near the bead, increasing resistance to heat and mechanical stress in conditions of frequent longitudinal accelerations.
Technologies that increase tread life
One of the key features of the model is the "proprietary" Matrix Siping technology. 3D lamellas form a large number of grip edges, thanks to which the bus more confidently maintains contact with wet surfaces. When transferring the load, the walls of the lamellas mutually fix each other, maintaining the stiffness of the tread blocks and preventing their excessive deformation. This solution allows for improved handling and slowed wear, maintaining the tyre's effectiveness even at high mileage.
Economical in everyday use
The design is oriented towards prolonged operation in intense urban cycles. The wide contact patch promotes even distribution of the load between the tread elements, reducing their wear rate. The robust carcass allows for recovery after the first life cycle, increasing the overall mileage and reducing ownership costs. At the same time, optimized rolling resistance helps reduce fuel consumption, providing additional economic efficiency in bus fleet operation.
Key features of Michelin X Incity Z:
- Matrix Siping technology combines reliable grip on wet surfaces with high block stiffness, increasing tread life;
- the additional protective cord under the tread protects the tyre from impacts and punctures, increasing reliability in urban operation;
- reinforced sidewalls and bead area reduce the risk of damage from frequent contact with curbs;
- the possibility of tread recovery, combined with an extended service life, allows for significant reduction in operating expenses.
