The LingLong D980 truck tire is designed for use on drive axles. Despite its fairly narrow specialization, this model is advantageously distinguished by its versatility of application. In particular, its tread pattern is equally effective on various types of road surfaces, ensuring the possibility of year-round use of this tire. Among its other features, it is impossible not to mention its relatively low rolling resistance and very long service life, which reduce operating costs.
Original Tread Pattern
This model was initially developed taking into account the specifics of operation in adverse conditions, including in winter. It is for this reason that the choice of specialists from the Chinese manufacturer in favor of an original V-shaped symmetrical directional tread pattern is explained. At the same time, it is distinguished by the presence of clearly defined functional zones.
The central part of the LingLong D980 contains two longitudinal rows of separate blocks of a complex, remotely resembling a trapezoidal shape. In turn, the shoulder zones also represent separate blocks arranged in rows, which are distinguished by more massive sizes and a quadrangular shape. During movement, all these tread elements form a huge number of edges, due to which the tire demonstrates excellent traction and coupling properties, especially on slippery roads.
Multiple Straight Lamellas
In addition to the blocks, the coupling edges are formed by numerous lamellas located on the surface of each of them. In addition to providing additional coupling properties, these tread elements solve a number of other problems. In particular, the lamellas, when in contact with the road surface, open up, literally "spreading" the blocks on which they are located. As a result, the area of the support surface formed by them increases, which, in turn, expands the contact patch. At the same time, a more even distribution of external pressure over it is ensured, thereby improving the tire's carrying capacity and resistance to impact loads and uneven wear.
