The Kumho KLT03 truck tire is designed for installation on any axle of trailers and semi-trailers. This model is one of the latest developments of the world-famous South Korean manufacturer. The creation of this tire used a number of original technical solutions.
7-rib design of the tread pattern
The key feature of the tread pattern used in the Kumho KLT03 tire is the presence of seven longitudinal ribs, including two shoulder zones. The latter are characterized by high structural rigidity, which was achieved due to the absence of any gaps throughout their length. This solution made it possible to significantly reduce the likelihood of uneven wear due to a more even distribution of load on the contact patch. At the same time, the massive size of the shoulder zones of the tread allowed making it as large as possible, which could not but affect the traction characteristics.
The five longitudinal ribs located in the central part of the tread are also characterized by massive dimensions. However, unlike the shoulder zones, they are divided into many separate blocks, located at a minimum distance from each other. Such a structure of the central part of the tread, on the one hand, made it possible to maintain the rigidity at the required level, and on the other hand, provided the contact patch with a multitude of sharp edges, which made it possible to significantly improve the braking efficiency, especially on wet pavement.
Low noise level
To reduce the level of resonance noise and vibrations that occur during movement, the Korean tire manufacturers gave the edges of the tread blocks a wavy shape. In addition, the blocks themselves were placed with a variable pitch relative to each other, which also contributed to a significant reduction in noise.
Main features of the Kumho KLT03 model
- The original 7-rib design provides excellent directional stability;
- A very rigid construction of the shoulder zones of the tread contributes to a more even wear of the tread, which extends the life of the tire;
- Five rows of separate blocks in the central part of the tread made it possible to significantly improve the braking efficiency;
- 6 longitudinal drainage grooves provide excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
