The Hankook AH31 truck tire is one of the latest models from the renowned South Korean manufacturer, which has introduced a new SmartFlex line on this occasion. This model is part of it. Compared to its predecessors, it stands out with higher operational characteristics, from traction to load capacity. Additionally, the versatility of this tire cannot be overlooked, as it can be used in both summer and winter, and can be installed not only on the steering axle but also on the trailer axles of highway tractors. This was achieved through the use of advanced technologies and a number of original technical solutions, which will be discussed below.

Excellent handling and high mileage

The tread pattern design of this model is typical for truck tires in this category. However, a number of features provide it with a range of advantages. First and foremost, these are the reinforced shoulder areas, which increase the tread's resistance to uneven wear and also make the tire's response to steering wheel turns extremely fast and accurate.

"Three-way" lamellas

The longitudinal ribs in the central part of the tread contain numerous lamellas. These elements are distinguished by their original curved shape, which allows them to form grip edges located at three different angles. In addition to improving traction properties, such lamellas also improve a number of other operational qualities - resistance to uneven wear, braking properties, and handling responsiveness

T.W.E.S. technology

This model is the only one among other representatives of the SmartFlex truck tire line that uses T.W.E.S. (Tread Wear Equaliser Stepper) technology. Its essence lies in increasing the resistance of the even (2nd and 4th) longitudinal ribs to dynamic deformation. To this end, special supporting blocks are located in the drainage grooves adjacent to them. This solution is aimed at improving directional stability, enhancing handling responsiveness, and preventing uneven wear.

- a rigid construction and massive dimensions of all tread ribs, including the shoulder areas, improve traction and tire life;
- special three-way lamellas in the center of the tread reduce the braking distance, optimize the distribution of external pressure across the contact patch, improve feedback, making it more transparent;
- special supporting blocks in the drainage grooves adjacent to the shoulder areas help the tire respond faster and more accurately to driver actions, prevent uneven wear;
- an additional (third) breaker layer made of steel cord with a spiral winding increases load capacity, reduces rolling resistance, and extends the life of the tread.
