Description Continental UrbanScandinavia HD3
Like all models of the "Scandinavian" line, the commercial tire Continental UrbanScandinavia HD3 is designed for operation, first and foremost, on snowy and icy roads. It is installed on the driving axles of trucks and cargo vehicles. It is characterized by high traction and coupling properties on slippery winter roads, fuel efficiency, and an extended service life.
The tread pattern is filled with numerous lamellas. The cuts have a "three-dimensional" profile of their walls. It limits the mobility of the blocks, fixes the lamellas in an open position when they come into contact with the road surface. As a result, the tire demonstrates not only high but also stable traction on snow and ice, minimizing the risk of slipping. The saw-toothed edges of the lamellas further enhance this effect. Another notable feature of the tire is the use of two rubber compounds that divide the tread into two layers. The inner layer, being more rigid, increases the stability of the grip, reduces rolling resistance, and prevents tread wear. Its outer part, which directly contacts the road surface, is made from a compound that remains elastic at negative temperatures. The use of special polymers in its composition provides high wear resistance and resistance to cracks and the formation of small cracks.
Key features of Continental UrbanScandinavia HD3
- 3D lamellas with saw-toothed edges provide high traction and coupling properties on ice and snow;
- a two-layer tread reduces wear, fuel consumption, increases the stability of the grip, and allows for the recovery of the pattern;
- a reinforced all-steel carcass increases the tire's carrying capacity, its resistance to impacts, and extends the tire's life.
