The Blacklion BF188 truck tyre is designed for medium- and long-distance transportation on paved roads. The model is primarily intended for steering axles; certain sizes are also suitable for use on trailers. The five-rib tread pattern combines straight-line stability with an efficient longitudinal water drainage system, while wide shoulder zones support the tread during manoeuvring.
Stability on highway routes
The tread design is based on five longitudinal ribs. The central section is divided by frequent, narrow sipes but maintains a dense structure without large transverse gaps across the tread. This construction limits the movement of tread elements under load and helps the tyre maintain its intended direction. For commercial vehicles, this is particularly beneficial on long straight sections and during smooth lane changes.
Water evacuation and additional biting edges
Four continuous grooves run around the entire circumference of the tyre, channeling water away from the contact patch. Positioned between the ribs, they distribute water drainage across the working surface width. Fine transverse sipes in the central area create additional biting edges that enhance grip on wet asphalt, without turning the ribs into separate large blocks.
Wide shoulder ribs
Massive ribs without deep transverse cuts are located along the edges of the tyre tread. They form a stable support under lateral loads and help maintain the shape of the contact patch during cornering. Slight flexibility of the shoulder areas reduces the tendency for localised wear on their edges. This design matches the road-going purpose of the BF188, intended for prolonged use on hard surfaces.
