Despite being produced in only one size, 12.00R20, the Barnaul VI-243 all-season truck tire is widely used on a huge number of commercial vehicles, from trucks to trolleybuses. This model was specifically designed for year-round operation on any axle of MAZ and KrAZ brand trucks, as well as modifications based on them. In addition, this tire is perfect for installation on trolleybuses produced at the Uritsky factory. Another key feature to note is the cost of this tire, which is at a traditionally low level for a domestic product.
Narrowly specialized tread pattern
Since this model was initially developed for operation exclusively in urban conditions, the development of its tread pattern focused on providing maximum grip on asphalt. That's why it uses technical solutions typical not only of truck but also of passenger tires.
In particular, a double longitudinal rib without any breaks throughout its length appeared in the center of the tread pattern. This design feature made it very rigid and resistant to dynamic deformation that occurs during movement. As a result, the tire was able to demonstrate a number of important qualities. First of all, it's excellent directional stability and almost instantaneous responses to steering wheel turns. Additionally, due to the rigid central rib, rolling resistance was significantly reduced.
Also, in the central part of the Barnaul VI-243 tread, there are two more longitudinal ribs consisting of multiple rhombus-shaped blocks. This solution was borrowed from truck models of the same domestic manufacturer, where it has proven itself to be highly effective, providing the tire with excellent traction and grip properties, especially on slippery roads.
The shoulder areas of the tread also feature rows of separate trapezoidal blocks. Their massive size allows for more even distribution of external pressure on the contact patch, which significantly extends the life of the tire. Moreover, when moving on unstable soil, these blocks become improvised soil grippers, providing more confident overcoming of difficult terrain.
