The Aeolus company is almost the only manufacturer from China, whose range of truck tires includes models designed for operation in winter. One of them is the ADW80, which is designed for use on the driving axle of highway tractors. Unlike its few analogs, it is distinguished by the fact that its adaptation for all-season operation was not limited to the use of the M+S marking.
Special winter rubber compound
This model was one of the first Aeolus truck tires to feature a rubber compound developed with consideration for the specific operating conditions in winter. Its composition includes a number of components that provide the tread with excellent elasticity even at very low ambient temperatures. At the same time, the improvement of one characteristic was achieved without compromising other properties. The use of new-generation chemical compounds and special technologies in production made it possible to achieve excellent resistance to high-temperature effects, abrasive and uneven wear, punctures, and cuts, while maintaining excellent traction on any winter surface and low rolling resistance.
Open tread pattern design
Another evidence that this model was designed for winter operation is its symmetrical non-directional tread pattern. It features an open design with a large number of individual blocks of original elliptical shape, which form six longitudinal ribs, four of which are located in the central part of the tread. This design allowed the Chinese tire manufacturer to maintain a balance between the main operating properties of the Aeolus ADW80 tire. With low rolling resistance and resistance to uneven wear, this model demonstrates excellent traction properties, primarily on slippery roads due to rain or snow.
Large number of lamellas
Each of the above-mentioned blocks contains three zigzag-shaped lamellas cut across the entire depth of the tread. During movement, these elements open up, thereby forming an additional large number of transversely arranged edges of adhesion. At the same time, the curved shape allows the lamella walls to be tightly fixed to each other, which, in turn, increases the stiffness of the blocks and, together with it, the handling on dry roads.
