Description Maxxis Bighorn
As soon as it appeared, the Maxxis Bighorn ATV tire gained legendary status. The Asian manufacturer managed to create a model with very high operational characteristics, which was offered at a very attractive price. Its popularity turned out to be so great that it continues to be produced even with the presence of a next-generation tire.
Two versions of the model
This model is offered in two versions. The tire with the factory index M917 is designed for installation on the front axle of the ATV, and the Maxxis M918 is for operation on its rear axle. The Asian manufacturer was forced to take this step due to the design features of modern Side-by-Side ATVs. At the back, they are equipped with tires with a wider tread than at the front, where they have a narrower tread. In fact, this is the only difference between the two modifications of this model.
Reinforced Maxxis Bighorn carcass structure
One of the reasons for the high popularity of this model is its remarkable reliability and durability in operation, even in the most difficult conditions. This is largely due to the tire's carcass, which has a 6-layer structure. Its basis is a 2-layer metal cord made using the so-called "seamless" winding technology. In addition to the absence of seams and joints, it is distinguished by a very dense arrangement of steel threads, which gives the entire structure additional strength and resistance to mechanical stress.
The other 4 layers are made of synthetic cord. The material used in this case is characterized by low weight and elasticity. This, on the one hand, reduces the weight of the tire, and on the other hand, gives it softness on the move and resistance to punctures and cuts.
Special rubber compound
When creating the rubber compound of the Maxxis Bighorn tire tread, the specific features of modern ATVs, designed for movement on various types of surfaces, were taken into account. A number of components were included in its composition, which give it excellent mechanical strength and elasticity.
Universal tread pattern
A significant part of the universality of this tire is given by its tread pattern, which has excellent performance on various types of surfaces. It contains a large number of very high blocks, which are arranged in such a way that during movement, they form a multitude of long transverse edges. At the same time, those located in the shoulder areas provide additional protection for the tire's sidewalls from damage.
Main features:
- versatility of application due to the optimized tread pattern, effective on various types of surfaces;
- a durable and at the same time lightweight carcass with a 6-layer structure using synthetic materials;
- a special rubber compound resistant to any aggressive external influence and at the same time sufficiently elastic to give the tire softness on the move;
- two versions of the model (for the front and rear wheels).
