The machine-building enterprise that would later become Wuling was founded in 1928. Its initial activity was the repair of military equipment, including aircraft. In the 1930s, the plant mastered the production of coal engines, and after the end of World War II, it began to produce agricultural machinery for the domestic market.

In the early 1960s, a design bureau was formed, and the company began to develop and produce tractor equipment. The latter was very popular and allowed the company to significantly increase its annual turnover, which reached 5,000 units by the mid-1970s. In parallel, the manufacturer was engaged in the development of internal combustion engines, small trucks based on them, and parts for various machines.

Cooperation

In the 1980s, the company established cooperation with Mitsubishi. Under the agreement, the Chinese manufacturer began licensed production of small tractors called Liuzhou LZ110. Notably, as early as 1982, they began to be marked with the letter W, i.e., Wuling.

The next stage of development fell in 1988, when the production of passenger cars was mastered. The "firstborn" was a small minivan based on the Daihatsu Charade model. It took the company 12 years to master the production of its own transport. It became a small car called Disai, which appeared in 1996. Then the pace of development became more intensive, and by the beginning of the 2000s, the company was already producing a whole range of sedans, as well as several microbuses.

New Era

In 2002, a global event occurred - the formation of China's largest automobile conglomerate SAIC-GM-Wuling. This alliance with General Motors allowed the company to use the technologies of the American manufacturer, expanding its model range and improving its technical condition. Note that the main emphasis was placed on the Wuling brand. Under it, several dozen passenger cars, minivans, microbuses, and other equipment are currently being produced. Over the past decade, the total volume has exceeded 15 million units of equipment, and this figure is constantly growing.
